Making Memories!

Well, my friends, we look back on another wonderful trip!  The mountains are so refreshing and being with our close friends is so relaxing, that the time flies by way too fast!  Here are our totals for 2 1/2 days of service:

16 publishers
188 hours
252 magazines
14 books
4 brochures

Let us pray that Jehovah will cause the seeds we planted to grow!  Until next time, here are some pictures to remember.  Love all of you!

Here We Go!

So it is finally here!  I hope everyone is as excited as we are!

This is the house address.
210 Birdie Lane
Bakersville, NC

The house telephone number is 828-688-6472.

The homeowner said that GPS does not pick up well in the area (surprise, surprise)  so these are the directions she gave me.

You may remember that Loafer's Glory is in Bakersville. The road through it is 226N.

Once you see Loafer's Glory, go past about one mile.  Then take a right turn on Locust Knob Tower.
Go up the hill past a white house on the right.  Follow on to the right.  The driveway has two black cattle at the end.  Drive will take you all the way to the rear of the house.

We are allowed to enter the house at 4pm on Thursday. There are two refrigerators and the kitchen is supposed to be equipped with everything including crock-pot, blender, grill utensils, toaster, etc.  It has both a gas and charcoal grill. There are two sets of washer/dryers.  Some have asked...linens are included but you may want to bring beach towels just in case we need them.

Josh and I will both have cell phones on us Thursday if you need to contact us...everybody be safe on the drive!

Literature

Hello to all!  Our trip is getting closer...soon we will be on our way!
Just an update to everyone about service:

What to Offer

The Society says that we should first offer the Bible Teach book and if the person already has it, we can place whatever literature we think is appropriate.  We suggest being prepared to offer to start a doorstep Bible study with the Bible Teach book.  If they have one already, we could offer the magazines. Perhaps the brochure "Good News" would be handy in starting a Bible discussion. Also we are asked to put old mags and tracts at every not at home.

Literature

Josh asked the brothers to special order our group a box of September magazines.  They are in and ready to go. Besides your own standing order for Sept mags, you may want to bring a few varieties of brochures and tracts to have on hand. Also we did not order a box of Bible Teach books this year so please be sure to bring a sufficient supply for your families.

Meetings For Service

We are planning to meet at the rental house for service Friday and Saturday mornings at 9:00.  We may just meet with the congregation Sunday afternoon after the meeting.

Meal Schedule

We're getting close and thought it might be good to start up a meal schedule.  It seemed to work out well for someone to take one night's meal last time.  We enjoyed getting to eat as a family and all the work didn't fall on just a few.  Besides, it is much less expensive than eating out!
If you would like to volunteer to help with meals, please let me know.
As always, if meals together doesn't work for you, it is fine to opt out.  This is just to help those who would enjoy it;)

Thursday _Alicia  -Green Chili________________________
Friday_______Alta-Hamburgers, Hotdogs_______________
Saturday ___Sherry- Spaghetti___________
Sunday _Amy- Chicken Enchiladas______________________
If anyone would like to do side items or dessert instead of a full meal, just let me know and we can put you the night of your choice.

Josh has volunteered to do Huevos Rancheros for us on Sunday morning.  If you'd like to do a breakfast, let me know.  Otherwise, we'll just plan to let everyone fend for themselves.

It also seemed to work out well to pack our lunches so that we will be able to stay out all day.  Please make sure to bring your cooler.  There are a few grocery stores in Burnsville to stock up on sandwich fixings.

Our Bakersville House!

Well it took a little while, but we finally reserved a house for our adventure!

This house has 5 bedrooms, plus a large apartment above the garage with couches, beds, bathrooms and general guy stuff;)  The great part about this house is that it is RIGHT in our territory!

They do not have a website but here is the description:

Come enjoy the 360 degrees of mountain views in this beautiful 5 BR/ 4 Bath 3420 sq’ home located in a secluded part of the Smoky Mountains. Perfect for a short or long get away; with nearby golfing, trout fishing and Penland School of Crafts, this area provides a unique chance at unforgettable experiences for everyone.

We were able to get a really reasonable rate on this house and it looks like the price for the entire stay will be $60 per person.

We have our new assignment!!

We are so happy that the Society has sent us our paperwork so quickly!  This is our assignment:

Mitchell County

Service days Sept 20,21,22

You may remember that we were assigned to Mitchell last year so this will be a familiar area to us.  It looks like we have a different part of the territory so we will have some new things to explore!

Now we are proceeding to the part of finding a rental house.  I will email everyone when one has been located and we have more details.  For those curious...our house from last year is rented already for our dates :(  So we will try something new!

We are sure that this trip is going to be a wonderful and encouraging experience for all!

Please check your schedules and let me know if you have conflicts.

The last trip was such a great boost to begin a new service year.  We are hoping that the next one will be just as refreshing!

Once we hear from everyone, we will get to work filling out our application for the Society.  Again, please RSVP by May 1.
